Tina Tseng

Violin|Piano

Tina Tseng is a violinist and educator who believes that music can inspire every human being!

As a native of Taiwan, Tina started her music journey with intensive Taiwan’s music training system, studied in Ying-Ming Junior High School and Feng Hsin Senior High School music program with private violin lesson, piano lesson and other comprehensive music training.

Tina earned her Bachelor of Music Performance degree under the guidance of Dr. Yu-Ting Huang at University of Taipei, and completed her Master of Music in Violin Performance and String Pedagogy degree under the guidance of Dr. Igor Kalnin at Illinois State University.

She is now pursuing Doctor of Musical Arts degree at University of North Texas under the guidance of Dr. Simon Gollo.

During Tina’s teenage years, she made her violin solo debut with the Ying Ming Junior High School Symphony Orchestra in 2016 and 2017. She also received the first prize on Elite Cup Music Competition- high school violin solo division in

2018. Besides from violin performance, Tina also had demonstrated accomplishments on piano performance. In 2018, She received the first prize on Taiwan Music Competition - high school piano duet division. Additionally, she also won the first prize on Music Dreamer National Music Competition – high school piano solo division.

During her college years, Tina participated in numerous violin masterclasses under the guidance of prestigious professors such as Dr. Benny Kim (University of Missouri–Kansas City), Dr. Miroslav Hristov (University of Tennessee), and Dr. Yu-Fang Chen (Ball State University). Tina presented her debut solo recital in 2022 and her senior recital in 2024. She was also a recipient of the Ming-Shi Music Star award and performed a recital at Ming-Shi Recital Hall in July 2024. In addition to violin performance, Tina also continued studying piano, taking piano lessons and jury exams for 2 years.

Beyond performance, Tina also loves to teach music and very passionate about education. During her undergraduate studies, Tina took courses in Orff, Kodály, and Dalcroze music education methods.

In 2022 and 2023, Tina participated in Dream Forest Rural Education Volunteer Camp, where she taught elementary school students in rural areas of Kaohsiung and Chiayi, Taiwan. She also worked as an online violin instructor for the Connect2 Music online lesson project in 2023. After coming to the U.S, she served as a counselor and violin sectional teacher at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp – Camp Bernstein in 2025 Summer.

During the 2025-2026 academic year at Illinois State University, Tina worked as a teaching assistant for the ISU String Project and taught private lessons at Hip Cat Music School. Tina will keep teaching music and improving her teaching skill in the future. She is very looking forward for her new journey to teach at Opus Music School!
